Open Alpha is live.

Welcome, and thank you for being here. LowPoly Legends is made by one person, and this is the first build open to players. Every match you play is the test bench: 1000-tick servers, movement rebuilt on the Counter-Strike 1.6 numbers, and an anticheat that checks the build you are running instead of trusting it.

Every Sunday at 18:00 German time there is a solo tournament. Sign up on the Tournament page, bring your aim, and turn up.

Found something broken? Tell me. That is what an alpha is for, and a report costs me less than a week of guessing.

Have fun, and good luck out there.

Bracket

Eight players, double elimination: two losses and you are out. Every game is best of three and the maps are drawn at random - there is no veto in the bracket. The draw is made from the sign-up sheet when the session starts, and the server opens each game for the two players in it.

Download and install

One file, about 41 MB. It installs the game and an updater that keeps it current.

Download the installer

Windows will warn you. Here is why.

The installer is not signed with a code-signing certificate. Such a certificate costs a few hundred euros a year, and this game is a one-person project without an income. Windows SmartScreen warns about every unsigned program that few people have downloaded yet.

That warning is not a virus finding. SmartScreen reports reputation, not analysis: it says "I have not seen this file often", not "this file is harmful". A brand new release always starts at zero, however clean it is.

What you will see

  1. The browser may say the file is not commonly downloaded. Choose "Keep".
  2. Windows protected your PC - a blue box. Click More info, then Run anyway. The button only appears after "More info".
  3. If your antivirus quarantines it, allow the file or add an exception. Some scanners flag any unsigned installer.

How to check for yourself

Do not take my word for it. The file only ever comes from lowpolylegends.de - never from a mirror, a pack or a link somebody sent you. You can upload it to VirusTotal before running it. And the whole thing is open: the updater verifies every later download against a signature, so once the game is installed nothing reaches it unchecked.

In PowerShell you can print the file's fingerprint with: Get-FileHash .\LowPolyLegends-Setup.exe

Match rules

Map pool

Both players pick two maps before the match. The map played is drawn from what the two of you asked for, so a map you both picked is twice as likely as one only one side wanted.

League

League admin

Dedicated server only. This panel is here because the server console opened the page with its admin token - the token is new every time the server starts and is never written down.

Mail list

AddressPlayerTeam

Everyone on the list, for a BCC field - a league that puts its entrants in a To: line has published their addresses to each other.

Rule book

One == Title line per section, one - clause line per rule. Saving replaces the whole book, because half an edited rule book is two rules for the same thing.
